Photos have been published of the unusual gift that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave to NATO leaders during the Alliance summit, including Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to Turkish media, it is a revolver with the name of each leader engraved on it, accompanied by a box of real ammunition and a gun cleaning kit.

According to European officials cited by Politico, the gift was also delivered to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the President of the European Council, António Costa.

A European Council official said Costa's security team took the revolver to carry out the necessary checks. It will then be transported and stored according to security procedures in Belgium.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Ursula von der Leyen said the European Commission president thanked Erdogan for the gift. According to him, the weapon will be deactivated and then intended to be donated to a military museum.

Although the gifts were symbolic, they are expected to face strict European Union rules on accepting gifts from officials. For this reason, it is considered impossible for leaders to keep revolvers as personal property.
