The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has remanded in prison the former official of the Vlora prison, Zambak Gjoni.
This decision was made by Judge Erion Bani, after reviewing Gjoni's request to receive information on the investigations being conducted against him.
" The applicant Zambak Gjoni on 03.10.2025 submitted a request for information on the criminal investigations in his charge, according to Article 246 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. At the end of the review, the Special Court decided, with decision no. 644, dated 24.10.2025, to extend the security measure 'Arrest in prison', previously determined with decision No. 32, dated 14.03.2025. The Special Prosecution Office and the judicial police are tasked with the execution of this decision, which can be appealed within five days at the Special Court of Appeals ," the announcement states.
Zambak Gjoni is accused by SPAK of attempting to access the emails of three special prosecutors, obtaining some data, but without having access to investigative files.
According to SPAK, he and former IMT employee Arnold Rrokaj also attempted to access the email of SPAK director Altin Dumani, but without success.
The incident occurred on March 12 and arrests were made within 24 hours. The equipment and files used in the intrusion were seized by authorities.
Some of the obtained documents were later distributed to other people, who are suspected to be two journalists, former prison chief Agim Ismaili, and Dritan Palnikaj, currently Secretary General at the Ministry of Agriculture.
