A young Albanian man has been sentenced to six years in prison in the United Kingdom after he was caught selling cocaine every day in Chester.
The 34-year-old, identified as Meltjan Isufi, had entered Britain illegally for the second time, using a false identification document, after previously being deported for drugs.
Isufi was sentenced on Monday at Chester Crown Court after pleading guilty to possessing a false identity document, involvement in the supply of cocaine, obtaining criminal property and unlawfully entering the UK in breach of a deportation order.
The investigation into him began on December 23, 2024, when police arrested another man in Chester and during a search of his apartment found a large quantity of cocaine, cash and evidence linking him to drug trafficking. Isufi's DNA was found on one of the packages of drugs.
The investigation led to the identification of a phone number used to sell drugs. The number turned out to be in use by Isufi, who identified himself as “Anton.” After an extensive investigation, police raided his home on September 19, 2025, where they found the phone containing contacts of more than 800 clients.
According to police, the drug ring run by Isufi was well-organised and distributed cocaine daily in Chester and the surrounding areas. During the raid, £17,585 in cash, cocaine and a forged Greek identity card that he had used to enter the country illegally were seized.
"Isufi had previously been convicted and deported for similar offences, but chose to return illegally to continue his drug trade. His operation was sophisticated and operated on a daily basis, but he underestimated the determination of our officers. Thanks to their investigation, a significant drug line was dismantled and Isufi is now behind bars for a long time," said Detective Richard Connolley.
British police stressed that "anyone who comes to Cheshire to commit crimes will be caught and face the consequences of their actions."
