"Open the door, otherwise I will kill", the Peqin prison employee recounts the confrontation with Sokol Mjacaj

Some new details have been published from the investigation file of the murder of Arben Lleshi in the high security prison of Peqin.

In the file, Indrit Dubali, an employee of the Peqin prison in the ventilation sector, has stated that he was threatened with a gun by the convict Sokol Mjacaj to open the main air door from which the convict entered the meeting room.

This was the moment after the life sentence had killed the other convict, Arben Lleshi.

"At the time of the incident, I was outside in the ventilation and I was waiting for the prisoners to enter sector no. 1. Some of the prisoners passed by and headed for the door to enter. At 13:50 I heard a noise coming from column 1+2 on the first floor of the prison. I was momentarily confused and reached out to see what happened. At that moment, I saw that the prisoner Sokol Mjacaj turned back with a gun in his hand and pointed towards me to shoot me. After pointing the arm at me, he said: "Open the main ventilation door, otherwise I will kill you." At gunpoint I was forced to open the door, as I was scared and confused.

The moment I opened the door he ran around the meeting place and the kitchen, he didn't know where to go, he was looking for a way to escape. I ran after him with 2 other prisoners to stop him, specifically with citizens Indrit Shaqa who was injured during the chase and Tomorr Caushi. He didn't listen to the calls and went straight into the meeting corridor and pulled the door from the inside, but he couldn't close it. The meeting workers were inside and I pulled open the door and took Burbuqe Manahasa out of the room. The employees who were inside came out and were threatened not to let anyone in. Only citizen Sokol Mjaca remained in the corridor and completely closed the room. He requested a meeting only with the General Prosecutor. We called several times for him to surrender from the Prison Director and he refused to surrender. Then I ran away because there were many people and I moved from that place", said Dubali.
