Sentenced to 22 years for the murder of a businessman, the GJKKO upholds Altin

The Court of Appeals has dismissed Altin Kodra's appeal to be released from the Special Regime for 1 year. Kodra is sentenced to 22 years in prison for murder.

Kodra was convicted of the murder of brick businessman Zamir Bilali in the city of Shkodra. The incident occurred on August 14, 2006, after a dispute between Kodra and Bilali, who were neighbors. 

"The applicant Altin Kodra, on 20.12.2024, submitted to the Court the request with the subject: Appeal against the Order of the Minister of Justice No. 623, dated 06.12.2024 "On the placement of the prisoner Altin Kodra in the special regime for the exercise of rights in the High Security Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions".

2. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of Judge Bib Ndreca, based on Articles 112 and 471 et seq. of the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as Article 17 of Law No. 81/2020 "On the rights and treatment of prisoners and detainees", with Decision No. 20/743, dated 14.02.2025 decided: Rejection of the request of the applicant (convicted) Altin Kodra.

"This decision can be appealed to the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime within 15 (fifteen) days, starting from the day after the communication of this decision ," the official announcement of the GJKKO states.
