Two Albanians have been arrested by Italian police after being caught with a large quantity of drugs. An operation by the Carabinieri in Pescara led to the arrest of two Albanians on charges of selling drugs in significant quantities in Italy.
The operation aimed to combat the growing phenomenon of drug trafficking in the area, mainly cocaine. The investigations began with a routine check, which led to the discovery of over a kilogram of drugs and further checks that allowed the discovery of other illegal substances.
The Carabinieri stopped the suspects aboard a small car near the 'Pescara Nord' motorway toll booth. The Albanians, with previous criminal records, showed signs of nervousness during the check. When the officers approached, the two men tried to remove a package, throwing it out the window.
This suspicious behavior led the carabinieri to continue with further checks to recover the discarded material. A short distance from the car, the soldiers found a block of cocaine weighing 1,134 kg wrapped in cellophane. Analysis of the contents confirmed that it was a drug whose value on the illegal market exceeds 100 thousand euros.
5,342 euros, divided into banknotes of various denominations, were also found and seized. The search was further extended to the suspects' homes in Pescara and Teramo, where other small quantities of drugs were found.
