A 65-year-old man, wanted by the Italian authorities as a member of a criminal organization, was arrested in Durrës.
Asjan Buçeza alias Hasan Buçeza was sentenced by the Court of Milan to 23 years of imprisonment, for the criminal activities of possession, sale and trafficking of narcotics, carried out within the criminal organization.
The 65-year-old is accused of having trafficked 19 kilograms of the narcotic heroin to Italy, in cooperation with other citizens, from 2004 to April 2005. He was placed in handcuffs with the intention of extradition to the neighboring country.
" As a result of intensive actions by the Police, carried out with the aim of capturing wanted citizens, as well as based on information provided by police intelligence and exchanged between counterpart Interpol offices, on the location of a wanted citizen international, on behalf of Italy, the coded police operation "Period" was organized and finalized.
During the operation, the internationally wanted citizen was located, captured and provisionally arrested, to be extradited to Italy:
Asjan Buçeza alias Hasan Buçeza, 65 years old.
The court of Milan has sentenced this citizen to 23 years of imprisonment for the criminal activities of possession, sale and trafficking of narcotics, carried out within the criminal organization.
From 2004 to April 2005, this citizen, in cooperation with other citizens, trafficked 19 kilograms of heroin to Italy.
Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are cooperating for the extradition of this citizen to Italy ," the police announced.
