A 39-year-old Albanian wanted for drug trafficking and hostage-taking has been arrested in Shengjin, with the intention of extradition to Italy.
The blue uniforms indicate that it is about citizen Ardian Sufaj. The latter was wanted because in cooperation with other citizens they had bought and trafficked 100 kg of cocaine.
As part of the operation by Fast Albania and DVP Lezhë, in cooperation with Interpol Tirana and the Italian Interforce office in Albania, it has become possible to locate the Albanian in Shengjin.
The arrested person was declared an international wanted by Interpol Rome, after the Italian judicial authorities, with the decision of 18.05.2023, assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics", "Criminal organization" and " Hostage", provided by the Italian Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, according to the police, during the period October 2022-January 2023, this citizen, in cooperation with other citizens, bought and trafficked 100 kg of cocaine from Ecuador, with the aim of selling it in Italy.
During the transportation, the cocaine was stolen by unidentified citizens and the 39-year-old man and his associates in Italy took a citizen hostage, at gunpoint, in order to gather information about the theft of cocaine.
Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, is following the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Italy
