The Salerno police announced the location and arrest of Krenar Keshi, who, in order to escape from the handcuffs, had to ram two patrols and injure 4 officers by lifting them into the air with his stolen vehicle. The operation took place in "Via Podgora", in the 'Mariconda' neighborhood two days ago (6 February), while it is believed that an organized gang of Albanian 'hawks' is behind it.
During the dangerous police pursuit, the Albanian also crashed into a police car, damaging one of them.
The suspect also possessed a loaded pistol, which he did not use during the pursuit, but with which he carried out robberies and terrorized residents of the areas of Salerno, Agro Nocerino and Cava de Treni. Stolen items were also found on him.
Meshi is suspected of being part of a gang that has been spreading terror in these regions for months.
The media of the neighboring country informs that at the moment the officers approached him for a check, the Albanian started the car and gave it gas. He even had to crash into two patrol cars until he was isolated by one of the carabinieri in action. At least 4 officers are reported injured, including a carabinieri.
The police said that the vehicle the Albanian was using was also stolen, as inside it were found a 7.65 caliber pistol, stolen goods, tools used for robbery, and a two-way radio used to communicate with at least 2 of the group members, who appear to have escaped during the checks in "Parco degli Aranci".
The investigation began after a white Alfa Romeo Giulietta was reported stolen in Salerno. The gang's modus operandi involved constantly changing the stolen license plates, making it difficult to identify the vehicle.
Surveillance cameras recorded on several occasions three tall individuals, with their faces covered and equipped with headlamps to move in the dark. The most widely accepted hypothesis by investigators is that the group is part of a larger criminal network, operating between North Naples, Caivano and Caserta.
Investigators are now analyzing the collected material to reconstruct the entire criminal picture and identify other members of the gang.
