The 41-year-old, originally from Mallakastra, is suspected to have been stabbed by a hotel guard in district no. 1 in Saranda.
The former officer of the Saranda Police Station, Lavdosh Metaj, 41, was injured in the early hours of this morning.
Metaj was arrested in 2021 for cocaine distribution and was released 3 months ago due to amnesty.
The 41-year-old, originally from Mallakastra, is suspected to have been stabbed by a hotel guard in district no. 1 in Saranda. Metaj had parked the vehicle inside the hotel and when he went to pick it up, he refused to make the payment.
For this reason, he had a verbal and then physical conflict with the hotel guard, which degenerated into the use of a knife. Metaj was transported to the Saranda hospital where he received first aid. The police immediately went to the scene and escorted the suspected author with the initials A. Sh.
"Injured with a cutting tool (knife), a citizen, during a momentary conflict, the 41-year-old man was caught and handcuffed.
The services of the Sarandë Police Station, immediately after receiving the notification that citizen LM was injured with a cutting tool (knife), organized the work to identify and capture the perpetrator. As a result of the search, after a few hours, it became possible to locate, catch and arrest the perpetrator, citizen: A. Sh., 41 years old, resident of Saranda.
This citizen is suspected that on 11.07.2024, around 03:40, in neighborhood no. 1, in a parking lot, after a momentary conflict, for weak motives, he injured citizen LM, 41, with a cutting tool (knife) years old, a resident of Saranda, who is in the hospital, out of danger for life. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Sarandë, for further actions," the police announced.
Lavdosh Metaj has served for several years at the Sarandë Police Station in various duties. In June 2021, while serving in the "Eagle" ward, he was arrested after an AMP operation. He was accused of distributing cocaine in the city, while the initial proceedings had also started for involvement in international drug trafficking to Greece.
From what he checked, AMP discovered that he had 166 grams of cocaine destined for distribution in the city of Saranda. Metaj was sentenced by the Court of Saranda to 5.4 years in prison, but was released due to amnesty in April 2024.
