
Firefighter Romeo Sulejmani received serious injuries, partially burning his face and body during the 'fight' with the flames in the villages of Lugar and Grapsh in the Municipality of Dropulli.
Doctors from the hospital report that a firefighter suffered second and third degree burns. To see his condition, the General Director of the Fire Department, Arben Cara, visited the officer in the hospital.
Cara has expressed readiness for the transfer of the fire brigade to Tirana.
"Fortunately, the extent of the burn is not so severe as to complicate the situation. We are ready to do everything for his recovery, we are ready to take him not only to Tirana, but also to other places if necessary. The fires have caused damage to vegetation and forests, there is no damage to homes. The fires have gone to the Dropulli area and continue to the Muzina pass," he said.
While firefighter Sulejmani recounts the moments of confronting the fire.
"We fought the flames for hours, in many areas the fires have been extinguished. We went to the mountainous areas because we only had a car for mountainous areas and we saved a church. Then we came back and put out other fires, then the fire was endangering the families and we went in to put it out" , he said.
