Spanish police have busted a criminal group made up of Serbs, Albanians and Spaniards who allegedly cultivated, packaged and transported marijuana from Malaga province. Police arrested five suspected members of the criminal network and three of them have been jailed.
The operation, called 'Llinas', is part of the Civil Guard's plans to respond to the cultivation and illegal trafficking of marijuana and drug trafficking.
The investigation began in November 2022 when, as a result of the collection, analysis and reports related to drug trafficking and criminality received by the investigators, it was learned about the residence in Alhaurín el Grande (Málaga) of a group of people of Balkan origin. They had rented an isolated rural house where home marijuana cultivation would take place, foreign media reported.
According to them, in this house, which had been illegally connected to the electricity grid, there were almost permanently two members of the organization, who were supposed to be dedicated to its cultivation and supervision, leaving the house only to buy food.
This organization had created a rental car company to carry out its criminal activities, which had a fleet of no more than five vehicles, with little projection and no commercial advertising, which led agents to suspect that "the sole purpose of the company was supplying the criminal group with vehicles, using it to change vehicles frequently and thus make the work of the police more difficult.
This network maintained frequent contact with other criminal organizations in neighboring provinces such as Seville and Cádiz, also moving to Zaragoza and Madrid and the south of Portugal.
In the two controls carried out in the cities of Alhaurín el Grande and Marbella, where the suspected head of the criminal organization and the owner of the car rental agency lived, 148 kilograms of marijuana, 2040 euros in cash and several vehicles were seized.
The five members of this network have been arrested for allegedly committing the criminal offense of drug trafficking, membership in a criminal organization and electricity fraud. They were made available to the Court of First Instance and instruction number 1 of Coín (Málaga), which ordered the imprisonment of three of them.
The operation was carried out by members of the Coín Forensic Police Team with the participation of agents belonging to the Coín Civil Guard company, who were supported by the Canine Service and the USECIC of the Coín Malaga Civil Guard Command.
