With tears in his eyes and in a difficult psychological state, Bledar Trëndafili showed remorse when he appeared before the court today for the serious act he undertook a month ago when he doused his ex-wife with gasoline and set her on fire.
During the session, he stated that Melida Trêndafili did not allow him to see the children and accused his ex-wife of treason.
"I didn't want to do it but I managed to do it. I regret it. She didn't let me see the children, she cheated on me and that's why I got there," he said.
The 45-year-old was recognized with the security measure "prison arrest" set in absentia by the court of Korça after the serious incident. The prosecution requested that the 45-year-old be left in prison until the end of the investigation, a request that was accepted by the court.
Bledar Trêndafili was arrested two days ago, after a month on the run. The serious event happened on August 31, in district 2 of the southeastern city, where he threw gasoline on his ex-wife and set her on fire. As a result, Melisa received severe burn wounds on her body.
