The charges are very serious. The defendants will have to answer, to varying degrees, for mafia connections, international drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, political-mafia electoral collusion, and illegal possession of weapons.

A major operation against international drug trafficking, money laundering and abuse of office has been carried out between Italy and Albania, with 52 people arrested.

According to TGCOM24, movable and immovable assets worth several million euros were seized.

The raid was carried out by the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate of Bari and the Albanian authorities, with the assistance of Interpol, the Office of Security Experts of Tirana and the Albanian police, with the coordination of Eurojust (The Hague) and the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of Rome. 

According to Italian media, movable and immovable assets worth several million euros were seized. The arrested are accused, to varying degrees, of international trafficking of large quantities of narcotics, money laundering and abuse of office.

Sources indicate that lawyers, businessmen, police officers, officials and characters from the criminal world are involved. Meanwhile, it is learned that so far three people have been arrested in Fier, Vlora and Durrës. Sources say that an arrest warrant has been issued for Ervis Doçi , known in Durrës as Visi i Pojës. As well as the administrator of a travel company, Ligor Çombashi . An arrest warrant has also been issued for a lawyer in Durrës Armand Tragaj , for a former police officer and for a person identified as  Orges Molla.

The investigative activity is part of the broader investigative project of the DDA of Bari and SPAK of Tirana that aims to combat the uninterrupted international trafficking of cocaine and heroin, managed by Albanian criminal organizations, which move large quantities of heroin and cocaine between the Balkans, Northern Europe and Puglia.

Operation "Bridge" foresees the execution of decisions for the seizure of assets in Albania and Italy, which include movable and immovable assets, worth several million euros, as well as two orders for arrest in prison, issued by the investigating judge of Bari and by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana, against 52 persons suspected of involvement in international trafficking of large quantities of narcotics, money laundering and abuse of office.

Further information on the operation is expected during an online press conference at 10:30, which will be attended by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, Roberto ROSSI, Public Prosecutor of Bari, Prosecutor General Michele Carbone, Director of DIA and Gianluca Forlani, Member for Italy of Eurojust./ Pamphlet
