A 27-year-old man from Kosovo was handcuffed at the border crossing point in Morina.
He tried to enter Kosovo, but after checks, it was found that the young man, identified as Lirim Arifaj, was declared an international wanted by Italy for criminal organization and illegal immigration.
Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with counterparts in Italy, is following the procedures for the extradition of the 27-year-old.
"He tried to leave Albania, while he was wanted internationally, by the Italian authorities, for criminal organization and illegal immigration, he is arrested for the purpose of extradition, the 27-year-old from Kosovo.
In addition to the maximum commitment to provide quality, fast and ethical service to citizens entering/exiting the country, the Border Police services of PKK Morin have continued their work to fight illegalities at the border, as well as to detain citizens who are signaled as declared wanted and try to enter or leave this pkk.
In this context, in cooperation with the services of the Kuka Local Police Directorate and as a result of the exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and the Italian authorities, the internationally wanted citizen was caught and put in handcuffs, with the aim of extradition to Italy: LA, 27 years old, living in Istog, Kosovo.
During the verifications and interviews in the second line, at the exit of the country, it turned out that the 27-year-old was declared an international wanted by the Italian authorities, after the Court of Trieste, Italy, has assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison" for the criminal offenses "Criminal organization" and "Illegal immigration", according to the provisions of the criminal legislation of Italy. "Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with counterparts in Italy, is following the procedures for the extradition of the 27-year-old," the police announced.
