Italian media have echoed the arrest of 58-year-old Nikola Mersini, detained in Vlora on July 20 of this year.
The 58-year-old was wanted by Italian justice since 2005, where he was sentenced to 8 years in prison for drug trafficking.
Ansa writes that thanks to the cooperation of the Italian and Albanian police, it was possible to arrest the 58-year-old man, who had been wanted for 19 years.
"He was wanted since February 2005, when an international arrest warrant was issued against him. "The 58-year-old is now in custody at the Vlora Court of Appeal, awaiting extradition procedures to serve the sentence in Italy," writes Ansa.
