Fran Mjacaj, the father of Sokol Mjacaj, who killed the convict Arben Lleshi in his cell, distances himself from the crime committed by his son.
In an interview for Klan News, the 77-year-old says that he does not want to see his son again. He explains that he has not had a relationship since he committed the monstrous crime of murdering two Czech tourists.
"I only met him when he was in the camp (prison) of Shënkolli, I didn't even go when he was in Kruja because I have no chance of being sick. My brother met him and helped him a lot. After this event, I don't care whether I slept, nor woke up, nor saw Sokol, nor saw anyone. I am broken at heart, age takes its toll, I am completely degraded ," he said.
Fran Mjacaj says that neither he nor the other boy were ever aware of any possible conflict in the prison.
" What do I have to do, what obligations do I have? I'm very upset about the incident, it killed my life, it's unnecessary work in my opinion, it's very serious. No one agrees, we don't know why, for what motives, for what I don't know, what they told me, they know themselves, what they have inside, they know themselves. As a family, my son and I do not know where he is, he had a fight with someone, so he works absolutely in the world. As for Sokol, I don't know where he came up with that job, he doesn't care why he does it, and they know how he got in there. We never thought that Sokoli works like that ", added Mjacaj.
Fran Mjacaj also expresses regret for the prison employees who were dismissed from their duties and arrested, as a result of the murder committed by his son.
" I felt sorry for the people of the state, I'm sorry that someone was taken by the neck, they don't owe him for the indignities that convicts can do. I am very sorry for the personnel of those who have served in the camp as soldiers, it is unfortunate that they told me that some people have been dismissed in the Peqin camp ", he concluded.
Fran Mjacaj lives alone, as his little son is abroad and his wife is dead. He lives in difficult economic conditions and extreme poverty.
