A police operation conducted overnight led to the arrest of three people suspected of drug trafficking and the seizure of 45 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
The Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, organized the operation following information about the transportation of narcotics. Police forces pursued a vehicle suspected of being transporting drugs.
At the entrance to Elbasan, the driver of the vehicle attempted to evade control by increasing speed and entering an unlit road in a suburban area. Police surrounded the perimeter and blocked the vehicle, arresting the three people inside in flagrante delicto.
During the search, the blue uniforms seized about 45 kilograms of cannabis sativa, a combat weapon with ammunition, a sum of money, and several mobile phones with Albanian and foreign SIM cards.
During the intervention, a police officer was accidentally injured by the breaking of a glass. His life is out of danger.
Investigative structures are verifying the scope of the group's activity, which is suspected to have been operating for a long time in at least three regions. Investigations are continuing to identify other individuals involved.
