For the first time in 35 years, there were no murders in Elbasan during 2024.
It was the General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, who released the statistics during the annual analysis of the work in the local directorates of the Elbasan Police.
Director Proda focused on several aspects of police work and requested improvement of parameters during 2025, in terms of community policing, in order for the inspectors of the Public Order Police, general patrols and every police officer to be closer to citizens, to have the criminal situation and citizens with criminal records under control, in order to prevent criminal events.
Director Proda emphasized that cracking down on illegal possession of weapons, preventing crimes against life and property, cracking down on illegal trafficking, preventing the cultivation of narcotic plants and their distribution, as well as dynamically following up on all issues and concerns addressed by citizens, are priorities to be further improved during 2025.
Furthermore, the Director General has requested all police structures to be equidistant from political entities during the election campaign. Police officers must rigorously implement the law and the obligations arising from it, guaranteeing order and security, as well as the smooth running of all electoral activities, with regard to the work of the State Police, which has only one duty, to guarantee order and security and to implement the law. Any police officer who is found not to implement these obligations arising from the law on the State Police, will be dismissed from the ranks of the State Police without any hesitation.
