A drug trafficker who played a 'key role' in flooding the Midlands with cocaine on behalf of an Albanian crime gang has been jailed. Klajdi Mehalla was arrested in Rugeley in April when officers stopped him in a car.
He tried to get out of the situation by saying the Class A drugs were for personal use. But officers found messages on his phone advertising the sale of cocaine and cannabis.
The car he was driving was also insured in someone else's name.
Mehalla, from Birkenhead, Merseyside, was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, involvement in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, and use of a vehicle without insurance by a third party.
He admitted the criminal offenses in court on Friday, May 23, and was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison on Friday, September 23.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Through our investigation, we discovered that Mehalla was playing a key role in organised crime."

He was responsible for selling drugs to clients in England on behalf of an Albanian criminal group.
"We gathered the necessary evidence to charge Mehalla with possession with intent to supply cocaine, involvement in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, and use of a vehicle without insurance by a third party," the official announcement from the UK authorities said.
Mehalla admitted the offences in court on May 23. He was jailed on September 26 for three and a half years, following the verdict at Stafford Crown Court.
"Since we launched our dedicated operation to tackle organised crime in May 2023, more than 1,000 people have been arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons offences in Staffordshire," the authorities announced.
