A serious knife injury was recorded late yesterday evening in the city of Librazhd, where a 46-year-old man was injured and sent to hospital for treatment.
According to the Elbasan Police announcement, the suspected perpetrator of the incident, citizen HD, 75 years old, resident of Librazhd, has been arrested, who is accused of injuring citizen SM, 46 years old, with a cutting tool.
Preliminary investigations suggest that at least four people were involved in the incident. Police announced that they have also arrested AH, 48, who is suspected of having assisted the perpetrator by hiding the murder weapon after the incident.
AH's wife has also been criminally prosecuted in connection with the case, as she is suspected of not reporting the crime. The injured party, 46-year-old SM, has also been prosecuted.
According to local police, the injured person is in hospital and receiving medical treatment.
Authorities are continuing investigations to fully clarify the circumstances and motives of the conflict, which are initially suspected to have been minor.
"A 46-year-old man was stabbed during a conflict for weak motives and was arrested. A 48-year-old man was also arrested, as he is suspected of hiding the knife and not notifying the police of the incident."
Criminal proceedings are being filed against the 48-year-old's wife, who allegedly collaborated to hide the knife used for the injury, and the injured citizen, after both refused to provide information about the circumstances of the incident.
Librazhd Police Commissariat services, immediately after being notified of the conflict that occurred yesterday evening, near the Librazhd city bridge, organized the work to clarify the circumstances and identify the citizens involved.
As a result of rapid investigative actions, it was possible to capture and arrest in flagrante delicto the following citizens: -HD, 75 years old, resident of Librazhd, for the criminal offense of "Intentional serious injury"; -AH, 48 years old, resident of Librazhd, for the criminal offenses of "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth".
From the investigations, it is suspected that on 04.03.2026, at around 20:20, during a conflict for weak motives, citizen HD attacked citizen SM, 46 years old, resident of Librazhd, with a cutting tool (knife), who is under the care of doctors, out of danger to his life.
Citizen AH is suspected of having hidden the cutting tool with which the injury was inflicted, and of not having reported the incident to the Police.
Also, criminal proceedings were initiated against the following citizens: -EH, 44 years old, resident of Librazhd (wife of citizen AH, who was at the scene), for the criminal offenses "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth"; -SM, 46 years old, resident of Librazhd, for the criminal offense "Failure to report a crime".
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan, for further action," the police announced.
