During the court session held this Thursday as part of the "Golden Bullet" trial, defendant Asllan Plaku raised concerns regarding his transfer from Durrës prison to Burreli prison.
According to him, this move makes it more difficult to attend court hearings, due to the long distance and transportation time.
"They put me in those dirty vans. Next week they're taking me to Drenova. I want them to transfer me back to where I was in Durrës," Plaku said before the court.
He also raised concerns that the investigation file has not yet been made available to him, stressing that this hinders the preparation of his defense. He also stated that he is not familiar with the lawyer assigned to represent him.
On the other hand, prosecutor Behar Dibra and the trial panel stated that these claims are being heard for the first time in the courtroom and will be verified in the future.
Asllan Plaku: Take everyone out of prison, if there is any tendency from the police chiefs. I don't know what they have, they want to achieve what they want, but they are not doing well with me. The transfer to Burrel makes it difficult for me to come to every session, it is a two-hour journey, they put me in those dirty vans, I want to attend every session. They have argued my move as if I have made objections. I will have trials, if a document comes, I will not sign it, I do not want any lawyer to represent me without my signature, the condition is that they transfer me back to where I was in Durrës. Next week they are taking me to Drenova. The prosecutor knows who is doing it and why, but they will not achieve anything. I want to look for witnesses, but I have no file, it makes my defense difficult, I do not know the lawyer they have assigned to me at all. The lawyers do not want to represent me without my presence, if they do not take me to where I was. They want to take people without connections to me. I want to leave and I don't want anyone to represent me without me being present, you're trying to pressure me, you can't force me.
Prosecutor Behar Dibra: We will verify these allegations, we are now aware, we were not aware. We will see the reasons for the transfer, if it has to do with your behavior, we will verify the allegations and find a solution. The Prison Directorate is a separate institution. You are here, you have no reason to leave, you will become the reason for the trial to be dragged out and postponed.
