The Korça Prosecution has requested 25 years in prison for 21-year-old Dritson Kurti. The prosecution has completed the investigation and brought the young man's file for trial on charges of having sexual relations with a minor.
But what happened in this case?
Dritson Kurti was living with a 13-year-old girl, with whom he also has a child. It was the birth of the girl that led to his arrest in September last year.
But the minor, A. Jonuzi, involved in this case, has reacted to the prosecutor's decision and has requested the release of the 21-year-old.
She says that she hasn't seen Dritsoni for five months, and he hasn't even seen his child.
The 13-year-old stated, among other things, that the 21-year-old worked two different jobs and that he did not take her by force, but that her parents gave her to him themselves.
" Only the husband worked, both day and night. During the day he would go to work in the wood field and at night he would work in the garbage. Why has the prosecution now given 25 years, for what reason? My parents gave me with their own hands, they didn't take me by force. I want my husband to be released because there is no one to feed me. I live with my mother alone. He is innocent and he didn't take me by force so that they would put 25 years on him. He hasn't done anything. The husband hasn't seen the girl, nor have I been able to go and see her. I haven't seen her for 5 months, I miss her, he hasn't even been able to hold the maid in his arms. I miss seeing her once, he hasn't held the maid in his arms. I just want them to release me. Who is this judge who gave him 25 years. He hasn't smelled the scent of his own child, the maid is growing up orphaned without a father. "I want you to release my husband, I don't want anything else ," the minor told 'Tv Klan'.
The 21-year-old's grandmother also says that the children were married by agreement with the girl's parents. She even says that it is a tradition for their community to marry young, adding that 7 other grandchildren have taken brides equally young.
" We married the boy by agreement with the girl's parents and went to Milot. They met, we took her, we brought her. The 13-year-old bride was born. We have a tradition that we get married quickly and this nephew was killed by a bullet in the ditch. What did the boy do? He didn't kill, he didn't stab, he didn't do anything. They had a baby and the boy didn't even see the girl. As soon as she gave birth, he saw her and they took her away. We want an hour and a half ago, please solve this problem of this boy who is an orphan and without a mother. His mother is dead, I am keeping the bride with all the children...
"We take girls here at 14 years old. I have married 7 nephews, the brides were 12-13-14 years old. We have a tradition. Now this law came out for this boy? Help me get my son out of prison because I alone with my pension cannot support my daughter-in-law and the baby ," she said.
Fidarie Kurti stated, among other things, that she is the only one who is holding the bride with the little girl.
" The prosecution asked for 25 years in prison, but what has the boy done? Has he killed, has he cut? People are being killed and slaughtered and they are being released from prison. We are poor, we are living in a hut. Please. I am a pensioner, should I keep my daughter-in-law and my daughter-in-law? What has my nephew done? I ask for mercy so that my son is released as soon as possible. I have a pension. I keep my daughter-in-law and the baby. I am 73 years old with a pension of 140 thousand. I go to the store and borrow a pack of cigarettes to take to my son in prison ," she said.
