Guard employee tried to kill himself with service weapon, police give details

Henri Haxhiaj, an officer of the Republic Guard, tried to end his life with his service weapon this Tuesday morning, in the Student City area.

Regarding the serious incident, Tirana Police gave the first details to the media, emphasizing that the guard who shot himself is 37 years old.

He was rushed to the hospital, but his health condition is still unknown.

"On 15.10.2024, in Student City, in his apartment, citizen HH, about 37 years old, employee of the Republic Guard, shot himself with a firearm.

The 37-year-old man was sent to the hospital for medical help, while the investigative group is working to clarify the circumstances of the incident," the police announced.
