The young man stated that he shot thinking that the officer would kill him first, since according to 23-year-old Novruz Cenalia, he had reached for the service weapon.
The victim and the perpetrator collided with each other physically, then the 23-year-old stated that there was a conflict between them.
"We had a conflict, he cursed me, we both took out our guns and I shot first, I don't regret what I did", says the author.
The evidence of the perpetrator of the crime has been taken with reservations by the investigative team and will be re-examined.
How did the crime happen?
The serious event happened on May 13 in Baltëz of Fier. The police officer, Novruz Cenalia, was driving to work, as it was his second shift, but in a narrow street he met an "Audi" in front of him, which was driven by Azgan Mërnica. The two argued about who should open the way and at one point the 23-year-old man took out his gun and shot the officer dead.
He was in the vehicle with his mother. He then sped away and abandoned the car at some relatives, leaving on foot.
For 48 hours, the police conducted checks all over Fier, while there were also searches in Vlora, Tepelena and Gjirokastër, but they failed to find him. Yesterday evening, the author decided to surrender to the police, after negotiations with the family members.
