Journalist Yalile Loaiza said that Dritan Rexhepi ran his drug cartel from prison.
She says that the arrest of Rexhepi is very important, stressing that the latter had established connections with high officials.

Therefore, the arrest of Dritan Rexhepi is very important. The judge who granted Rexhepi bail has done the same to many other criminals.
Rexhepi created a criminal structure while he was in prison and the connections with some of the officials or with some of the high functionaries may come from the time he was arrested here in Ecuador. The murders in Ecuador are all related to drug trafficking. Now that Rexhepi is out of the frame, some other mafia members can replace him. Here in Ecuador, we also have Mexican cartels operating here," she told "Euronews Albania".
