An Albanian was shot dead in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on the day of the arrest of the head of the company "Bello" Dritan Rexhepi by the Turkish police in a residential complex in Istanbul.
According to Ecuadorian media, the Albanian was executed while inside his parked car. The incident happened last night around 20:30. According to witnesses, the perpetrators were on a motorcycle. After the execution, they sped away in the same vehicle.
The 53-year-old was shot with 9 pistol bullets. From the investigations so far, it has been revealed that Arjanit Rizaj was waiting for his wife, who was in a care home for the elderly, to meet her father.
The witnesses, horrified by the macabre scene, tried to help the 53-year-old by sending him to the emergency room, but unfortunately Arjan Rizaj could not survive.
Residents and some sellers of the area said that the Albanian was shot at by a white motorcycle on which two people were moving. They left in an unknown direction after committing the murder. According to the police, the perpetrators used a 9 mm caliber firearm.
Initially, Rizaj was sent to the emergency room of the "Luis Vernaza" hospital, and then to the "Panamericana" clinic, where the doctors tried to keep him alive, but the wounds caused by the firearm were severe, causing his death.
The 53-year-old's wife has stated to the investigators that she saw the scene from very close. She stated that she did not know the motive of the attack on her husband. According to her, Rizaj did not work as he did not have valid documents in Ecuador, but lived with the money sent from Albania by his family or his brother who lived in Canada. But according to local media, he found an Ecuadorian ID.
In the parking lot of the Luis Vernaza hospital, forensics agents found eight 9mm shell casings and a deformed bullet. In June 2022, in the same parking lot, the Police arrested 18 people, some armed, connected to a criminal organization.
