Over 100 thousand euros and smuggled goods seized in Rinas, 6 citizens arrested;

 Smuggled luxury goods seized in Rinas, 99 thousand undeclared euros also seized!

Border police have seized around 100 thousand euros in cash, smuggled goods and 1.2 million lek during checks at Rinas airport.

Six people will be investigated at large for smuggling goods and forging documents.

The police have cracked down on three cases of attempts to remove a significant amount of undeclared money from Albania. A case of an attempt to smuggle goods into our country has also been cracked down on.

A 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen with the initials OR has been prosecuted after being caught with 76,000 euros in cash, who was traveling from Rinas to Dubai. During the search, 76,000 euros were found and seized from this citizen, which he attempted to take out of Albania without declaring at the border.

The 34-year-old Albanian with the initials MF was prosecuted after being caught with 11,000 euros in undeclared cash, who was traveling to Paris.

Criminal proceedings were also initiated against the Albanian citizen A. Ch, 41 years old, who was going to Bologna, after 11,900 euros and 1,240,000 new lek, undeclared, were found and seized during the search.

The police also cracked down on a case of attempted smuggling of contraband goods, where a 27-year-old citizen with the initials SQ, residing in Tirana, who was bringing luxury goods from China, was criminally prosecuted.

Authorities have seized a total of 99,270 euros, 1,240,000 new lekë, two forged documents and various smuggled goods.

Police announcement:

As a result of intensive entry/exit controls, Border Police services have identified and cracked down on three cases of attempts to take euros and lek out of Albania, without declaring them according to the law at the border.

Also, a case of an attempt to smuggle goods into our country was cracked down on.

As well as two cases of document forgery.

6 citizens are being prosecuted.

99,270 euros, 1,240,000 new lek, two forged documents and various contraband goods were seized.

1-The Border Police Services of the Rinas Commissariat have intensified controls in cooperation with the airport customs authorities in order to prevent and crack down on illegalities.

As a result of exit checks, three cases of non-declaration of funds were identified and prosecuted, specifically:

1-A 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen OR, who was traveling from Rinas to Dubai, has been criminally prosecuted.

During the search, 76,000 euros were found and seized from this citizen, which he attempted to take out of Albania without declaring at the border.

2- Criminal proceedings were initiated against the Albanian citizen MF, 34 years old, who was traveling to Paris, where during the check the police services found and seized 11,370 euros which he had not declared at the border according to the law. The above citizen was refused exit from the Republic of Albania.

3- Criminal proceedings were initiated against the Albanian citizen A. Ch, 41 years old, who was going to Bologna, after during the check the Police services found and seized 11900 euros and 1,240,000 new lek, which he had declared according to the law at the border. The above citizen was refused exit from the Republic of Albania.

4-At the same time, the following citizens were prosecuted for the criminal offense of "Forgery of identity cards, passports, or visas":

-DL, 28 years old, resident of Kamëz. This citizen presented himself at the Border Police counter, with the intention of traveling to Spain. During the documentation check, the Police found an Italian identity card with the data of an Italian citizen and with a similar photograph to his. From the verification carried out in the document verification laboratory, it is suspected that this citizen has forged this document.

-EK, 40 years old, who was traveling to Barcelona. Upon exiting the Republic of Albania, this citizen was checked at the second line because he was also a returnee in the Deportiv category. From the check carried out in his backpack, the Police services found an Italian passport with the data of an Italian citizen and with a photograph similar to his own. The Italian passport was taken to the laboratory for examination, where the examination resulted in a suspected forgery. Under these conditions, citizen E. K. was refused exit from the Republic of Albania.

5-Also, the Border Police services, in cooperation with the customs services, uncovered a case of attempted smuggling of goods, where a 27-year-old SQ citizen, resident of Tirana, was prosecuted for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of other goods".

Police officers at the Rinas BCP stopped a SQ citizen for inspection outside the customs area, who was bringing goods from China. During the inspection, a quantity of various goods were found in two suitcases and a sports bag, unaccompanied by relevant invoices, which this citizen had not declared at the Rinas customs office for customs clearance.

The materials were passed on to the Tirana General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office for further action.
