The "titan" process launched by the Brussels Court against a wide international drug trafficking network, for which more than 100 people were expected to appear, has been postponed until December 18.
The process codenamed "Encro" includes 129 defendants, including Albanian citizens, 40 of whom are arrested and accused of: participation in a criminal organization, arms and drug trafficking, extortion and denial of freedom.
The charges against them came at the end of an investigation that broke down communications on the Sky ECC app, widely used by criminal organizations but discovered by Belgian police in 2021.
The authorities have described the case as a "titanic process", which has reached the court after an extraordinary investigation by the police and the prosecution.
The "Sky Encro Chat" application is widely debated in Albania as well, as it has shed light on several criminal events involving former heads of the State Police.
The detainees of the "Metamorfoza" file are seeking their freedom in the Supreme Court. They have filed an appeal following the Court of Special Appeal's decision that left them in jail, arguing that the communications on the SKY ECC app cannot be called evidence as they were not taken in the form required by law.
This position was also maintained by the lawyers of the arrested in the first instance and in the appeal, but the security measure of "prison arrest" was left in force against them.
