SPAK has started investigations against the General Director of Taxes, Ceno Klosi.
The senior official, one of the closest people to the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku is being investigated for the criminal offenses of corruption, abuse of office, fraud and falsification of documents.
The Special Prosecutor's Office confirmed through an official letter to 'News 24' that the investigations against the chief tax collector Klosi were registered on the basis of two reports made by the Democratic Party.
" On the basis of the criminal complaint sent by the parliamentary group of the political entity Democratic Party, the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered Criminal Proceeding No. 259/2023 dated 13.12.2023, for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of persons who practice public functions", "Abuse of duty", "Forgery of documents" and "Fraud" , announced the prosecution.
As it results from the official data of the prosecution institution, 7 months after the first report, the opposition filed another report against the Director General of Taxes Klosi.
"For the same fact, the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered Criminal Proceeding No. 83/2023 dated 03.07.2023, based on the criminal report also sent by the political entity Democratic Party of Albania, for the criminal offenses "Misuse of duty", "Forgery of documents" and "Fraud". SPAK has decided to merge the two proceedings into one.
Klosi, who is in charge of taxes, obeys many political orders, rather than the law, unfairly punishing businesses, has worked for 13 years as a specialist and head of sectors in second-level banks and then during the period 2015-2021 held the position as Director of the Economic Department at OSHEE. In June 2021, he was appointed General Director of the National Water, Sewerage and Solid Waste Agency, while with VKM 625, dated 10/22/2021, he was appointed General Director of Taxes.
