A 22-year-old man and his traveling companion were arrested by the Border Police at the Morina border crossing. It is learned that the 22-year-old attempted to traffic a 14-year-old girl, who had been reported missing by her parents, to Kosovo.
According to the official announcement, the Border Police services, following a risk analysis and detailed control of vehicles leaving the Republic of Albania, have stopped a vehicle driven by citizen EG, 22 years old, resident of Berat. Also in the vehicle were citizen AK, 18 years old, and a 14-year-old female citizen, declared wanted by the Durrës DVP for leaving the apartment.
Preliminary investigations suspect that EG intended to traffic the minor to the territory of Kosovo, while his co-traveler, AK, is accused of failing to report the crime, as he was aware of the purpose of the trip.
Both citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto by specialists for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking at the Kukës Police Department.
EG, 22 years old, was arrested for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in Minors", while AK, 18 years old, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".
Meanwhile, on 28.09.2025, the family of the 14-year-old girl had reported to the Durrës Local Police Directorate her removal from the apartment, leading to the start of investigations that led to her identification at the border crossing.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukës, for further investigative actions.
