After a jealous argument, a 42-year-old Albanian man tried to strangle his wife, but when he realized she wasn't breathing, he asked for help.
The Italian police have handcuffed the 42-year-old.
According to Italian media, the woman, in critical condition, was admitted to San Paolo Hospital in Savona and is out of danger but under the supervision of medical staff.
The police, who arrived at the scene, found the victim's husband, a 42-year-old man of Albanian origin, but a resident for years in the city of Torretta, who had already confessed that he had tried to strangle his 31-year-old wife and that he stopped only when he realized that the woman was no longer breathing.
It all started when the 42-year-old Albanian man heard his wife talking on the phone with someone and, in the throes of jealousy, he attacked her.
According to the Italian media, in an attempt to escape from her husband's rage, the wife locked herself in the bedroom but he broke the door in a rage and tried to suffocate her with his hands. The victim lost consciousness and the frightened husband had already requested the intervention of the medical staff, regardless of the gravity of his action.
The whole incident happened when the children were at home sleeping in their bedroom.
The medical personnel who intervened tried for several minutes to revive the woman who only after about an hour started to breathe on her own. The 31-year-old was then admitted to the "San Paolo" hospital in Savona, with a reserved prognosis, where she is still.
The investigators, after ascertaining the situation, could do nothing but arrest the husband. The man was then transferred to prison and will have to answer for the remaining offense of attempted murder.
