A suspected quantity of narcotics was seized by officers of the Fier Penitentiary Institution, while a citizen was arrested red-handed while attempting to bring it inside the prison premises.
According to the official announcement, the drugs were discovered during a physical check in the special verification room, where citizen SP was found hidden under his private parts. The checks showed that he had shown up for a meeting with convict AM, accommodated in sector 5, building C.
Subsequently, SP was escorted and arrested, while the Prosecutor's Office and the Anti-Corruption Commission were notified for further legal procedures.
In parallel, authorities are conducting a full search of the room where the convict was located, for prohibited items and security checks.
"The verifications showed that SP had appeared at the institution to hold a meeting with the convict AM, who is in the regular security regime and is accommodated in room no. 10, sector 5, building C. Following the procedural actions, citizen SP was detained, the relevant documentation was drawn up and the Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Specialist of the Criminal Investigation and Prevention Service, were notified for further legal actions," the official announcement states.
