A 25-year-old man from Durrës and a 17-year-old girl were arrested by police yesterday evening after they attempted to steal a Land Rover vehicle in Dhërmi.
After being notified of the theft, the police reacted immediately. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle did not obey the police order to stop and, in an attempt to escape, performed dangerous maneuvers, causing damage to the stolen vehicle.
The two young men had gone to Dhërmi on April 30, 2026, in the evening hours, in a “Benz” type vehicle, initially with the pretense of buying a “Land Rover” vehicle, which was being used by a citizen from Tirana. Taking advantage of the owner’s absence, the 17-year-old had started the vehicle and left without his permission.
The 25-year-old faces charges of "Attempted Theft" in collaboration, "Disobedience to a Police Order" and "Leaving the Scene of an Accident". Meanwhile, the 17-year-old is charged with "Attempted Theft" in collaboration, "Driving a Vehicle in an Irregular Manner", "Destruction of Property" and "Disobedience to a Police Order".

Himarë/ They attempted to steal a vehicle in Dhërmi, the quick intervention of the Police prevents the theft. A 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, accomplices in this criminal activity, are arrested. Two vehicles are seized (one of the perpetrators and the other vehicle they attempted to steal). The Police Services, after receiving a report that a “Land Rover” vehicle had been stolen in Dhërmi, organized the work, where thanks to the quick response they made it possible to locate and stop the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle did not obey the Police order and, during the maneuvers to leave, caused damage to the stolen vehicle. At the end of the actions, the citizen N. Xh., 25 years old, resident of Durrës, was arrested for the criminal offenses: “Attempted theft”, committed in collaboration, “Disobedience to a Police order” and “Leaving the scene of an accident”, while the 17-year-old was arrested for the criminal offenses: “Attempted theft”, committed in collaboration, “Irregular driving”, “Destruction of property” and “Disobedience to a Police order”.
Preliminary investigations show that, on 30.04.2026, in the evening, the two citizens had gone to Dhërmi in a “Benz” vehicle, initially with the intention of purchasing a “Land Rover” vehicle, used by a citizen residing in Tirana. Taking advantage of the owner’s absence, the 17-year-old had started the vehicle and left without his permission.
The investigation also revealed that the 17-year-old, who had taken the "Land Rover" vehicle, had collaborated with a 25-year-old, who was caught in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood in Vlora, while the vehicle in which she had gone to Dhërmi had crashed in Palasa and abandoned it. As material evidence, the two vehicles were seized, the vehicle that was attempted to be stolen and the perpetrators' vehicle.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
