The Tirana Prosecution Office completed the investigation into Lebanese Fadi Alwan and sent him to trial for the murder of his daughter, Rayyan Alwan.
The Tirana Prosecution Office closes the investigation into the Palestinian, Fadi Alwan, accused of murdering his daughter, Rayyan Alwai, 22 years old.
He will be tried on the charge of "Murder under qualifying circumstances", an offense that carries a sentence of life imprisonment.
Through a letter dated 18.09.2025, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs informed that the Republic of Lebanon has refused to extradite 49-year-old Alwai to Albania.
From the investigations so far, it is suspected that Fadi Alwan, in February 2025, in an apartment on "Gjon Muzaka" Street, stabbed his daughter to death.
The last person to communicate with the victim was her Lebanese boyfriend, whom she met in Germany. It is learned that he worked in a supermarket in Germany near the restaurant where Rayan worked.
In WhatsApp communications, the 24-year-old's boyfriend expresses concern about why she is not responding, while Rayyan asks her to take care of herself.
The last conversation between them took place on February 19, and after that moment the victim did not respond to her partner.
How did the incident happen?
Fati and Rayyan Alwan arrived in Albania on February 19, 2025, and in Rinas the 49-year-old introduced himself as having come to Tirana as a tourist with his partner.
The tickets to come to our country were booked a few hours before the trip and as soon as they set foot on Albanian soil, they headed to the apartment they had rented on “Gjon Muzaka” Street. The first night they slept on the first floor of the 3-story apartment, and then, claiming that they did not like the room, on the 20th they stayed on the third floor of the villa, where the macabre crime also occurred.
The motives for this serious crime still remain a mystery. The young mother of 3 children was divorced, and the little ones lived in Lebanon with their father. In Germany, Rayyan Alwan started a new life, and her approach to Western traditions is suspected to have caused the 24-year-old's ongoing problems with her family, parents and brothers. The girl had also filed a complaint with the police in Germany about these concerns.
Investigators still suspect that the girl's mother was involved in the plan to kill her, but there is still no convincing evidence for this. The lifeless body of 24-year-old Palestinian Rayan Alwan was withdrawn from the Tirana morgue by her relatives.
