27-year-old Albanian politician, Amarildo Vllazeria, has been arrested following an anti-drug operation, initiated by the discovery of conversations on "Sky ECC".
Vllazeria, who turns out to be the former Mayor of the Municipality of Mortsel in Belgium, was arrested as part of an investigation launched after messages were discovered by the “Sky ECC” platform. The targeted gang is said to have been involved in the import and export of drugs as well as their transportation in the period 2020-2021. A house search was also carried out near the town of Mortsel. The former mayor was not re-elected this legislative term, but was to be sworn in as a municipal councilor on Tuesday evening for a few months, replacing a party colleague. This did not happen because of the arrest.
"The three arrested people are members of a criminal organization involved in the import and transit of cocaine through the port of Antwerp ," the police announced from the decrypted messages of the conversation. They were arrested after the police carried out five house searches. Various luxury goods, phones and an amount of 9 thousand euros were also seized. The municipality of Mortsel was also searched.
Amarildo Vllazeria has been a municipal councilor since 2018 and became mayor of Mortsel in October 2023. He was also chairman of the special committee for social services at the time and was a member of the police council.
