Cultivated cannabis plantation in Greece, Albanian identified through DNA; 27 kg

Greek authorities, with the help of DNA analysis, have identified a 31-year-old Albanian as one of the cultivators of a large marijuana plantation in the forest area of Rogdia, owned by the Savvathian Monastery.

According to Greek media reports, the Albanian's fingerprints and genetic material were found in some of the evidence seized during the police operation conducted in September 2022.

The identification was carried out with the assistance of Interpol and the SIRE.NE application through French authorities, as the suspect had also been the subject of investigations in this country.

The discovered plantation was divided into two plots and contained 1,150 cannabis roots, some of which reached up to three meters in height and were in full maturity.

During the operation, Heraklion Police also seized 27 kilograms of dried cannabis.
