The Greek authorities have been alerted after the escape of two Albanians, Lefter Toçi and Romeo Qosja, who were serving their sentence in the rural prison of Kassavetia.
According to the information, EL.AS is also conducting checks in Western Attica, while it considers the escaped Albanians as very dangerous. There are even reports that they have been seen by citizens in this very area.
The operation to find them is carried out by special police teams. According to the same sources, perhaps the two fugitives are armed, while they think they are together.
The two people have been sentenced to many years of imprisonment (even life) for a series of robberies, arson and membership in a criminal organization with the purpose of committing murders, the Greek media write.
The two prisoners, both 41 years old, were held since 2019 in the Agricultural Prisons, in an unfenced area, due to good behavior, while their room was checked only a few times a day by staff.
The fugitives were given five days off in 2024 and apparently took advantage of their return from the last leave a few days earlier to plan and carry out their escape.
Their disappearance, which was discovered at 21:00 on Thursday, caused the immediate mobilization of the police as the two fugitives are considered dangerous, due to his checkered past, while investigations to find them are on bloom
The two men, 41 years old, have been convicted of a series of serious crimes, including theft, attempted murder, arson and participation in a criminal organization.
Their sentences include multi-year sentences as well as life sentences, which highlights the high risk they pose to public safety.
