The escape of two Albanians in Greece, the Greek media raise accusations:

The Greek media, as well as police officers, reacted strongly after the escape of two 41-year-old Albanians from the low security prison of Kassavetia.

Romeo Qosja and Lefter Toçi were both sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for several serious charges, including cooperation in murder and armed robbery, but not only were they kept in an unfenced sector of the prison, but they also received up to 5 permits within the year.

"Maybe some people don't consider them dangerous, two people who killed a shop owner in Elefsina and a 75-year-old woman in her house in Aspropirgos," a police officer who dealt with this criminal group told "Zougla".

"How is it possible for criminals with such a history to get five permits? Someone has put his signature and is definitely responsible," the Greek media continued.

Qosja and Toçi, part of Alfons Ndoci's group

Other details have been revealed regarding the past of the Albanians Romeo Qosja from Cërriku and Lefter Toçi from Bradasheshi in Elbasan. They were initially arrested on March 31, 2016, together with 5 other Albanians, including a woman and a Greek citizen. Alfons Ndoci was among those arrested at that time, who was killed on June 26 of this year in Koridhalo prison. The latter was considered a high-risk person in Greece, involved in several serious incidents, and even once escaped from the van transporting him to prison.

The Albanian-Greek group was then accused of the murder of a 53-year-old Greek man in Elefsina on March 12, 2015 and the robbery of his wife, the robbery and murder of a 75-year-old Greek woman on October 6, 2015 in Aspropyrgo, the robbery of a 57-year-old on March 10, 2015 in Spata, the robbery of a 52-year-old man and the attempted robbery of a 75-year-old woman on August 15, 2015 in Aspropyrgo, the robbery of a 52- and 43-year-old couple on October 6, 2015 in Aspropyrgo, and the burning of a vehicle on March 12, 2015 in Glika Nera. During the police search, 1 pistol, 1 revolver, 1 imitation weapon, 1 carbine, 2000 euros, jewelry, tools for theft, mobile phones and a small amount of drugs were seized.

On April 21, 2016, charges of "participation in a criminal organization" and "robbery" were brought against Qosja and Toçi. After the 18-month period of detention, in September 2017, Qosja and Toçi were released with a security measure of "obligation to appear" and "prohibition of leaving the country". It turns out that they did not implement the security measure, even on July 27, 2018, Lefter Toçi was arrested by the border police for "violation of the security measure" and "opposing the police forces", but he was released again. In addition, Romeo Qosja was also accused on May 13, 2008 of "creating a criminal organization", "continuous robbery" and "violation of the law on weapons".

After being released on bail from prison and even a few days after Toçi's second release, specifically on August 13, 2018, the duo turns out to have committed another armed robbery, specifically against the family of a Greek businessman.

Lefter Toçi was arrested again on April 4, 2019 following a European arrest warrant, while Romeo Qosja and their accomplice AG were also arrested at different times.

Romeo Qosja and Lefter Toçi were in the prison of Kassavetia since 2019 and were kept in an unfenced area due to good behavior. They turn out to have taken 5 leaves during 2024. They apparently took advantage of their return from leave a few days ago to plan their escape. Due to their dangerousness, the Greek police have started intensive checks all over Greece./TCH
