A 36-year-old woman of Albanian origin was arrested by Siena police forces, who found over 1 kg of cocaine hidden in her office in the province of Florence.
The operation was part of an investigation by the Siena Squad to prevent and combat drug trafficking in the Val d'Elsa area.
The woman, already known for her connections with people with criminal records, has been observed and followed by officers, who have decided to search her home.
During the search, although no drugs were found, officers found over 16,000 euros in cash and packaging material for doses. This confirmed suspicions that the 36-year-old was hiding the drugs elsewhere.
The officers, thanks to intuition stemming from previous observations, extended the search to the woman's workplace, a company located on the border with Val d'Elsa. There, they found, hidden in her desk drawer, a backpack containing approximately 1.2 kg of cocaine, divided into small pieces, and a precision scale.
The woman was arrested for intentional possession of drugs and, by order of the public prosecutor, was sent to the Solliçiano prison. The investigation is still ongoing and the evidence collected will be reviewed by the judge.
