An Albanian was arrested by local police in Montanaso Lombardo (Italy), after being caught in a drug farm, set up in a facility with an area of about 1 thousand square meters, where marijuana worth 300 thousand euros was cultivated, but which could reach 600 thousand euros, according to Italian investigators.
Police found around 200 plants and 15 kg of drugs, including dried marijuana and cannabis, already packaged and ready for sale.
The raid, launched at 1:30 p.m. on Monday with the support of 12 officers coordinated by Commander Costantino Gemelli, led to the arrest of two people: an Albanian and a Frenchman, both with previous convictions for drug trafficking, found hidden under a lid on the warehouse floor.
The entire space was divided: five rooms dedicated to cultivation, sodium lighting, ventilation and air conditioning systems, drying rooms, precision scales, packaging equipment, and an active video surveillance system.
A veritable cannabis assembly line, from seed to packaging. The warehouse, rented for about a year and officially registered in the name of a woman resident of Montanaso Lombardo, came under the scrutiny of investigators after a report of suspicious activity.
During an initial inspection, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The studs were then opened, revealing a constant flow of people entering and exiting the building.
From there, the authorization from the Lodi prosecutor's office launched the operation, with the support of the fire department. The investigation, coordinated by the prosecutor's office, is now focusing on the criminal network that could support the entire operation. Investigators are trying to track down the financiers, instigators and distribution channels, as well as verifying any illegal connections to the electricity networks of neighboring companies.
