
Lilo Mera's brother has been criminally prosecuted for practicing foreign exchange activity without a license and not issuing tax coupons.
Lilo Mera was arrested after an incident with two traffic officers who violently objected to the imposition of a fine for wrong parking.
According to the police report, a sum of money in lek, euro and pound, as well as 2 laptops, was seized from the 30-year-old man from Ksamil.
"During the actions carried out to clarify the event that happened on 17.08.2024 in Ksamil, where a 26-year-old man was handcuffed by the Judicial Police Officers at the Saranda Prosecutor's Office, after he violently opposed the Saranda traffic officers during the exercise of of the task of completing the minutes of the traffic violation (wrong parking), specifically on "Butrinti" street, in front of a private entity in the administration of the 26-year-old brother, the services of the Saranda Police Station, thanks to the cooperation with the citizens, have received information that in this subject, foreign exchange activity was carried out without a license.
An inspection was immediately carried out in this entity and it was found that the citizen DM, administrator of this entity, was practicing foreign exchange activity without a license and did not issue tax coupons for the services provided, as well as having uninsured employees.
Following the procedural actions, the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Section referred materials to the Prosecutor's Office and initiated criminal proceedings against the citizen DM, 30 years old, resident in Ksamil.
As material evidence, 98,896 ALL, 368 euros, 26 pounds and 2 laptops were seized.
The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further investigative actions," the Police announced.
