Citizens who knew Beqiri closely have spoken out about the murder in Durrës of 51-year-old Valbon Beqiri. They say that the 51-year-old was a good and cheerful man who did not cause conflicts.
The owner of the bar where the 51-year-old worked stated that they did not have a relationship like a worker and owner, but were like brothers.
"He was my brother, a quiet hard worker who smiled at everyone. This news came as a bombshell. Even now that I'm talking about it, we can't believe it. It seems like a dream to us."
We had not noticed any concern from him. He had a relationship with me like a brother with a brother. The author has made serious accusations, but we leave it to the justice system to do its job and not to throw mud. He has a wonderful wife and such children. He was a man devoted to his family. I have handed over my slander to him.
"I have many moments with Valbon. It's not true when people talk about his divorce," the owner of the bar told Euronews Albania.
Another citizen, a friend of the 51-year-old, said that he had known him for years and had not noticed any unusual behavior from Beqiri during this time.
"Valboni was a good, hardworking guy, if you talk bad about Valboni, God forbid. He worked at that bar for 10 years. I've known him for 10 years. Nothing is true. For me he was a fantastic guy. I haven't noticed any unusual behavior, these are untrue things. Valboni will remain in our minds," said the 51-year-old's friend.
Another elderly person said that Valbon Beqiri never had any conflicts with people or customers at the bar where he worked.
"I am new to Durrës, for the last 10 years I have had coffee at the bar where he worked. He was always smiling and the service was perfect, everyone got along well and he didn't talk to anyone. When we found out, we saw the bar closed, I called him on the phone and he didn't answer and I was surprised. At dinner I found out that he had been killed. We felt sorry and were sad because he was a regular family man. There was no one better. We don't know the author at all. He was not divorced," said Valbon Beqiri's acquaintance.
