About 3 months ago, in the middle of Tirana, just a few meters from the 9-year-old "Fan Noli" school, Martin Cani was stabbed to death, while a 14-year-old of his age was arrested as the suspected perpetrator of the crime.
And while the Tirana Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigations and sent the file for trial against the suspected perpetrator, it is reported that investigations are underway against the school staff.
The Prosecutor's Office officially announces that it is separately investigating the criminal offense of abuse of office, related to the actions or inactions of school staff.
"The investigations continue as it is necessary to carry out other investigative actions, with the aim of individualizing guilt and specific criminal responsibilities," the prosecution announced.
Martin Cani and the co-perpetrator were also arrested on the school premises days before the murder, and investigations will reveal whether staff, security guards, teachers or psychologists properly performed their duties that could have prevented the tragedy.
According to reports, the parents of the minors were not notified by the school about the fights that had started between the children, while numerous insinuations have been made that the minor perpetrator also had a knife at school.
A day earlier, the Court of Appeals rejected another request by the 14-year-old to be placed under house arrest, and left him in a cell at the juvenile institution in Kavaja.
