The Tirana Prosecution Office has closed the investigations and has sent the perpetrator of the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani and the injury of Luis Meçja to trial.
Marjo Përpleshaj stabbed Martin Cani and injured 15-year-old Luis Meçja, during a fight in the schoolyard.
This serious event brought public reaction and several protests.
"The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, completed the investigations and sent to trial the citizen MP, accused of committing the criminal offense 'Murder in qualifying circumstances' against a minor and against two or more persons, provided for by Article 79, letters a) and dh) of the Criminal Code, to the detriment of the minors MC and LM.
After a complete and comprehensive investigation, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana has completed the investigations regarding criminal proceedings no. 7676, registered on 18.11.2024/
"Also, the prosecution has decided to separate the acts of this proceeding, the acts related to the criminal offense "Abuse of office", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code, regarding the actions or omissions of the school staff, which have been registered in another proceeding, and for which the investigations continue as it is necessary to carry out other investigative actions, in order to individualize the guilt and concrete criminal responsibilities," the prosecution announces.
