The double murder in Finikounda, Greece, is entering the main interrogation phase, following the arrest of the two accused.
Police are collecting witness statements, seeking to shed light on the murder of the Greek owner of the campsite and his Albanian caretaker, to whom he had left almost half of his estate.
Following the statements of the victim's nephew, the owner of the campsite and his new girlfriend, the victim's niece, a businessman from Attica testified today.
He is the employer of the 22-year-old who testified for four hours before investigators, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
According to information, the young woman (the victim's nephew's girlfriend) had contacted him on the phone a few minutes after the double murder, which makes her a key witness in the development of the case.
The investigative and police authorities are also continuing their investigations to determine the route the 22-year-old took after the murder. He claims to have escaped by swimming to Kalamata, but does not reveal the details of his escape.
A white car, which was allegedly seen in the area at the time of the crime, is also being investigated. Police are examining whether this is the same vehicle that was registered on September 7th, when an attempted murder was carried out against the 68-year-old owner of the campsite, an incident for which the 22-year-old had already claimed responsibility.
According to "Protothema", he committed the act after attempting to extort the victim while accusing her of sexual abuse he had committed years ago.
Tomorrow, the two defendants, the suspected murderer, a Greek-British man, and the young man who alleges abuse, who are being held in separate cells at the Messinia Police Department, are expected to give their statements.
The two young men accuse each other of breaking into the campsite on the night of October 5, with the 22-year-old identified by the victim's nephew, the only eyewitness to the murder. According to him, the perpetrator had short, blond hair and shot 5 times. He managed to escape, but the Albanian caretaker who was running behind him to escape the bullets did not survive.
The nephew said that, shocked, he asked his girlfriend to call the employer of the 22-year-old who alleged sexual abuse by his uncle, but without explaining why exactly.
The victim's niece said that her uncle had a lot of wealth, up to 30 million euros, and that he had left most of it to the Albanian. She also confessed to the conflicts with her surviving nephew, while the incident is still under investigation.
