Murder of Greek owner and Albanian worker, two 22-year-olds give contradictory

The testimonies of two 22-year-old young men accused of the double murder on the evening of October 5 at the "Ammos" campsite, where the campsite owner and his Albanian friend were the victims, are considered crucial to the progress of the investigation.

One of the accused, of Greek-British origin, who is suspected of being the main perpetrator of the crime, began his testimony at the Kalamata Court at noon. Meanwhile, his peer, who surrendered a few days after the incident, has admitted his involvement and is presenting himself as an accomplice in the crime.

During his arrest in Athens, the young Greek-British man had refused to testify in the preliminary phase of the investigation, stating through his lawyer that he had not entered the campsite at all that night.

However, his position has been significantly weakened, as he has been named as the perpetrator by his associate, who has claimed that he was not the one who fired the gun.

Further, he was identified without hesitation by the grandson of the campsite owner, the only eyewitness to the double murder.

According to sources, no traces of gunpowder were found on the clothes allegedly worn by the accused on the night of the crime, which were seized from his apartment. Meanwhile, his mobile phone is being examined by the authorities, as it is expected to shed light on his movements on the night of the incident.

Another key point in the investigation is the testimony of the 22-year-old accomplice, who claims that after the double murder he swam for 7-8 hours to leave the scene and then walked to Kalamata, where he was located at the KTEL bus station the next afternoon. His testimony is being checked for inconsistencies and compared with camera footage and other evidence.

At the center of the investigation is also a white car, which according to evidence was seen driving near the campsite both on the night of the incident and a month earlier, on September 7, when it is suspected that there was a failed assassination attempt.

Sources close to the investigation indicate that authorities are close to identifying the driver of the car, with evidence pointing to a woman, which could completely change the course of the case.
