The Mossos d'Esquadra police in Spain are continuing the open investigation into the death of an Albanian, who was seriously injured around 19:00 on Saturday (October 5). The Albanian was taken to the Blanes hospital in Girona, Catalonia, as he could not survive his injuries despite the efforts of doctors.
The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Girona region opened an investigation to first identify the deceased and then to find the 3 people who had abandoned him, who were able to escape in a black Audi vehicle.
On Sunday evening (yesterday), one of the persons was handed over to the Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Lloret de Mar, as a suspect for the serious incident, according to "ElCaso" reports.
The Spanish police confirmed that they have arrested a person who appeared at the police station, but at the moment it is not known what role he played in the incident, if he was one of the three people in the vehicle who escaped or if he was the one who fatally wounded the Albanian abandoned in the hospital.
Officers and investigators are still questioning the suspect about the dynamics of the incident, what he knows and his role in it. The details of the investigation are kept secret and it is expected that the detainee will be taken to Court and charged.
The experts said that the victim had a wound on the back of the head, caused by a firearm, but the final detailed forensic examination will be awaited.
"What is clear to the Mossos d'Esquadra is that this murder is once again linked to the drug trafficking of marijuana, a profitable and very dangerous business, which has turned Catalonia into the largest producer of this drug, which is exported throughout Europe generates millions of benefits", writes "ElCaso".
Police investigations to dismantle Albanian organizations do not stop, as in the region of Catalonia alone, 53 Albanians have been arrested this year alone, for houses or hashish plantations.
