After 11 years, the Elbasan Prosecution Office managed to prove through DNA analysis that the remains found in the village of Babje, Librazhd in February 2015 belonged to citizen Enton Janushi, who disappeared without a trace near his home in the Lake area of Tirana.
But despite this, it seems that the family of Janushi, also known as Taulant Maze, is questioning this conclusion because it has filed a request with the prosecutor's office for an exhumation and DNA analysis by independent experts. Initially, the family requested the collection of the remains, but then withdrew and filed a request, which has not yet been decided by the prosecution institution whether or not it will be taken into consideration.
Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that, in parallel with this move by the victim's family, the Elbasan Prosecution Office decided to transfer the case to the Tirana prosecution office for jurisdiction, because Janushi disappeared without a trace at noon on January 19, 2015, where he was last seen near the Dry Lake in the Tirana Zoo area.
The prosecution institution in the capital seems to refuse to investigate the case, claiming that since the remains were found in Librazhd, it is Elbasan's competence to investigate.
The Tirana Prosecution Office has forwarded the file to the General Prosecutor's Office to determine who has the authority to investigate the case.
Enton Janushi disappeared without a trace three days after fleeing the Netherlands, where he is suspected of being involved in the murder of brothers Florenc and Glevis Tola from Elbasan on the evening of January 16, 2015, who were found massacred in an apartment on the outskirts of the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, in the neighborhood known as the 'Bulgarians'.
In connection with this incident, Janushi was declared wanted by Dutch authorities. Investigators suspect that he was kidnapped and killed for revenge motives related to the execution of the Tola brothers.
