
The Italian court has sentenced Selami Bodini to 27 years in prison, who strangled his wife on the night of October 28 last year, Etleva Bodini.
According to the Italian media, it was the president of the High Court, Franco Greco, who handed down the sentence, while the Prosecution had asked for life imprisonment.
The 42-year-old Albanian man was found guilty of strangling his wife during a domestic dispute, leaving her dead in bed while their children slept in the other room.
In addition to the criminal sentence, the accused was ordered to pay compensation of 770 thousand euros to the civil parties involved in the trial. However, he was acquitted of causing grievous bodily harm.
The attack happened after a heated argument, fueled by her husband's jealousy. After the woman had taken refuge in the bedroom to escape the attack and possibly seek help, the man followed her and committed the heinous act.
